Background
Ian served in the British Army and the UK Metropolitan Police Force before starting his career in the financial services with National Mutual in 1982 in the UK. In 1985 he set up his own independent financial services practice, ‘Jordan Financial Planning LLP’ located in Hampshire UK, which is now managed by Ian’s son Lee.
In 2008, Ian, Carol and their youngest child Olivia moved to New Zealand and Ian began working as a contractor with Chris MacKay of Chris MacKay Financial Services Ltd. More recently with expansion plans and the new financial advice regime coming into effect the time was right for Jordan Financial Planning NZ Limited to branch out into new premises and to provide financial advice to retail clients under the new financial advice regime, registered as a Financial Advice Provider (FAP) Licence holder.
Ian is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand and also the Chartered Insurance Institute, Personal Finance Society and the Institute of Financial Services in the United Kingdom. In addition, Ian has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT)for nearly 40 years and a MDRT Court of the Table member on over 30 occasions.
Given his comprehensive knowledge of UK and NZ financial services, Ian operates as an impartial holistic financial adviser and specialises in retirement/investment planning and UK pension transfers to New Zealand.
Ian strongly believes that ‘if you look after your client’s interests, your business takes care of itself’.
His philosophy is to provide cost-effective, pragmatic financial solutions, placing maximum value on client care, trust and service.
He has no ties to any single product provider, ensuring that the advice and service he provides is impartial, and best suited to your particular situation.
Lower Hutt residents, Ian and Carol have been married for over 42 years and have three children; a son Lee, and two daughters Nichola and Olivia and four grandchildren.
Ian is an enthusiastic sports watcher, enjoys cycling, both tarmac and mountain biking, and enjoys the occasional game of golf. At home, he enjoys DIY and entertaining family and friends.
