Nicky has some 12 years’ experience in the financial services sector and is the co-founder of Wellington-based insurance broking company NZ Financial Brokers.

Background
Prior to establishing NZ Financial Brokers in 2007, she worked in sales and marketing roles including real estate with Harcourts and as an Account Director for a web design business. She subsequently built an online marketing business which, once up and running, she sold to a software development company.
On the back of this experience and with a family history in insurance; her father has worked in the industry for over 30 years, it is not surprising that the enterprising Nicky became a qualified financial adviser and then set up NZ Financial Brokers in partnership with her husband.
They provide personal and business financial risk solutions including life insurance, income protection, disability, trauma and health insurance, and advice to businesses on key person protection and group insurance plans. They also provide full fire and general insurance to families and businesses. Their clients include families, professional firms, and small business operators.
NZ Financial Brokers has a longstanding association with Plus4 Insurance Solutions; they were founding members of the Plus4 group in 2008.
Nicky’s service philosophy is that she works for her clients, not for the insurance company, through an advice driven process, without a sales and product focused bias.
She sees her role as protecting her client’s best financial interests via an intelligent insurance plan customised to their specific needs. She ensures that they understand that plan, what they are paying for and how to claim, this plan it is reviewed regularly to keep abreast of their changing lifestyles.
She is passionate about saving her clients from the crippling burden of being underinsured (or worse still not insured at all) and works closely with her clients to achieve the best possible result come claims time.
Not being tied to any one insurance provider means she can provide the best possible cover through independent research and deliver the best result should they face an adverse event, or the worst should happen.
Personal
Nicky is married to Damian Alexander, the co-founder of their business which together they built over the last decade to become one of the more successful and trusted insurance businesses in Wellington.
They have two children at primary school, Charlotte and Hugo, who keep them happily busy when they are not working.
Nicky is family-centred which is why she understands the importance of looking after the people you love in times of need.
